Abstract. Community Based Tourism. Tourism in Indonesia is a sector that provides a large income to the country's economy. The experts are required to manage the existing tourism assets. One of the concepts of tourism asset management can be applied with the local communities known as the Community Based Tourism. The basic principle of Community Based Tourism is to make the community as the main actors through empowering various tourism activities, and the benefits of tourism as much as possible for the community. The socio-economic empowerment of the community become the main goal and put more values in tourism, especially to the tourists. Community Based Tourism will involve the community as decision-making process, also in the acquisition of the largest share of income from the tourists directly. With this Community Based Tourism concept will be able to create employment opportunities, reduce poverty and bring a positive impact on the preservation of local native environment and culture.
