Abstract

The presence of Generation Alpha in modern life dynamics presents new challenges in the development of children’s character, particularly due to the
dominance of technology, which reduces direct social interaction. In the Islamic context, Islamic character education holds high urgency because it is
rooted in the teachings of the Qur’an and the exemplary conduct of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as a model of noble character. This study aims
to describe and analyze strategies for developing Islamic character in children, implemented through the Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja
Nyata/KKN) Recognition at the Al-Hidayah, Asy-Syuhada, and Nurur Rahmah Qur’an Learning Centers (TPA) in Palembang City.
The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with total sampling of 58 students from the three TPAs. Data were collected through
observation, interviews, and documentation of Islamic character development activities, including religious obedience, manners, cooperation, and social
care. The results indicate that the strategies for developing Islamic character were implemented through three main approaches: interactive Qur’an
and Hadith learning, practical activities based on Islamic values, and direct guidance from KKN students as role models of Islamic behavior. The
implementation of this program proved effective in fostering children’s Islamic values, such as discipline, responsibility, and respect for others.
Collaboration among students, teachers, parents, and the community emerged as a key factor in the program’s success.
Thus, the KKN Recognition program can serve as a strategic model for strengthening sustainable Islamic character education in children and provides
tangible contributions to the development of Islamic education in Indonesia.
