The Role of Rumah Mahir Al-Qur’an (RMA) in Improving Children’s Qur’anic Reading Proficiency

Abstract
This study aims to examine the role and impact of learning at the Azizah Darussalam Al-Qur'an Proficiency House (RMA) in Palembang in improving children's Quran reading skills. RMA is a non-formal educational institution that focuses on tahsin (recitation of the Quran), tahfidz (memorization of the Quran), and Islamic character building through systematic and structured
learning methods. The research method used was descriptive qualitative, with observation and interview approaches to obtain data related to the motivation, interests, and learning outcomes of children at RMA. The results indicate that a conducive learning environment, varied teaching methods, and support from family and community members have a significant positive impact on improving children's Quran reading skills. Challenges in learning, such as limited teaching staff and differences in student ability levels, can be overcome through class grouping and the active role of parents. In conclusion, RMA Azizah Darussalam has succeeded in becoming an effective Quranic educational institution in producing a generation of Quranic scholars who are proficient in reading and possess noble character, while also making a positive contribution to strengthening the moral and spiritual well-being of
the surrounding community.
