Creating a Caring, Friendly, and Meaningful Environment for the Elderly Through the KKN Recognition Program

Abstract
The Community Service Program (KKN) Rekognisi of Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Raden Fatah Palembang with the theme “Creating a Caring, Friendly, and Meaningful Environment for the Elderly” was implemented at Harapan Kita Nursing Home Palembang as a form of student community engagement. This article aims to describe the implementation of the program and analyze its impact on the well-being of the elderly. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a participatory method, in which students were directly involved in the daily activities of the elderly residents. Data were collected through observation, social interaction, and program evaluation during the implementation period. The results indicated increased participation among the elderly, the creation of a warmer and more interactive environment, and the development of emotional closeness between students and the residents. Overall, the program contributed positively to the social, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being of the elderly.
