Peer Review
Peer Review Process
Manuscripts submitted to ATLAS: Journal of Research and Islamic Thought Studies undergo a rigorous selection and assessment process by the Board of Editors to ensure compliance with the writing guidelines, focus, scope, and excellent academic quality. The manuscripts are subjected to a double-blind peer review method, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other.
Desk Review
During the desk review stage, manuscripts are carefully examined to ensure they meet the writing guidelines, focus, and scope with outstanding academic quality. If the conditions are not met, the authors are allowed to revise their manuscript according to the provided criteria. However, there is also a possibility of direct rejection if the manuscript fails to meet the necessary standards.
Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the desk review stage are then sent to two expert reviewers in the field of the submitted manuscript. The review process typically takes up to three weeks. Manuscripts that do not pass the desk review stage will not proceed to this phase.
Reviewer's Decision
The reviewers provide the following recommendations:
- Accepted: The manuscript is acceptable for publication.
- Accepted with minor revisions: The manuscript can be published after addressing the reviewers' concerns through minor revisions.
- Accepted with major revisions: Substantial revisions, such as data analysis, the main theory used, and rewriting of paragraphs, are required.
- Rejected: The manuscript is not suitable for publication or has fundamental issues raised in the reviews.
The reviewer's decision is considered by the Board of Editors to determine the subsequent process of the manuscript.
Revision Stage
Once the manuscript receives notations for minor or major revisions, it is returned to the author along with a review summary form. Authors are given three weeks to revise manuscripts accepted with major revisions and one week for manuscripts accepted with minor revisions. The revised manuscript should be accompanied by the completed review summary form.
Final Decision
At this stage, the manuscript is re-evaluated by the Board of Editors to ensure that the author has adequately addressed the reviewers' concerns. If the revisions are not satisfactory, the manuscript may still be rejected.
Proofread
Manuscripts deemed acceptable by the Board of Editors undergo a proofreading process to ensure linguistic quality.
Publication Confirmation
The final layout of the manuscript is sent to the author for review to ensure alignment with the author's writing. At this stage, any typographical errors found in the final manuscript can be revised. Once confirmation is received from the author, the Editorial Secretary proceeds with online and print publication on the journal's website.
