Abstract

Abstract The issue of arabization and secularization is considered to have greatly influenced Arabic learning in Indonesia. The confusion of society in viewing the terms arabization, islamization and secularization is one of the main causes of the bad image of Arabic learning in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to rethink and reflect on the issues of Arabization and secularization that affect Arabic learning in Era 4.0. The results of this study indicate that both arabization and secularization have positive and negative impacts on learning Arabic. Among the positive impacts is the acculturation of Arab and Indonesian cultures, creating good trade partnerships between Arabs and Indonesians, thus motivating Indonesian students to learn Arabic. While the negative impact is in the form of a shock to the native language culture and the occurrence of tribalism of Arab culture, there is a negative view due to the existence of radical groups who force all Islamic teachings to be oriented to Arabic, the use of the 'Amiyyah language and the change of Arabic script to Latin writing without any absorption of language. So that the role of the teacher is expected to be able to overcome these things. Keywords: Arabization; Secularization; Arabic Learning Issues
