Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the influence of the use of the TGT Model on the vocabulary understanding of grade VIII students at MTsN 6 Tanah Datar. The research method is quantitative research using experimental methods, and the Control Group Design model uses pre-test and post-test. The research instruments are observation and tests. The results of the research on teaching vocabulary to grade VIII students in MTsN 6 Tanah Datar with the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model with the help of Puzzle media, based on the results of the research, in measuring students' understanding of vocabulary before the implementation of the learning model as a result of the implementation of the use  of Team Games Tournament (TGT) with the help of puzzle mediaIn the pre-test in the experimental class with an average of 71.25 and the control class with an average of 69.02 with weak scores. Furthermore, the implementation  of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model with the help of Puzzle  media through teacher observation sheets, obtained a score of 3.5 with a good category. Furthermore, based on the results of the post-test in measuring the improvement of students' vocabulary skills, a result of 84.5 was obtained with a good category for the experimental class, while the control class obtained a score of 82.00. The results of the T-test were obtained with a result of 0.03 out of 0.05, so Ha was accepted. Therefore, it is acceptable that the Team Games Tournament (TGT) model  with the help of Puzzle has an effect on the vocabulary understanding of grade VIII students at MTsN 6 Tanah Datar.
