Transformasi Sosial dan Relasi Budaya dalam Perkembangan Kajian Teoritis Tafsir di Indonesia

Abstract
This study aims to examine the extent to which digital technology provides both benefits and challenges to the study of Qur’anic exegesis (tafsir) in Indonesia. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this research utilizes content analysis and discourse analysis to explore how social transformation and cultural relations in the digital era influence the development of tafsir studies. The findings indicate that tafsir, which was previously confined to scholarly gatherings and academic institutions, has now expanded through social media. Traditional face-to-face learning has been increasingly replaced by indirect forms of knowledge dissemination through images, videos, and various written content on digital platforms. Religious scholars and academics now find themselves competing with artificial intelligence and numerous content creators who lack a deep understanding of tafsir. The credibility of sources has become a major challenge, as the spread of misinterpreted content has increased. This necessitates a more selective approach from the public in filtering information to avoid miscomprehension of Qur’anic verses. In terms of social impact, tafsir studies have transcended academic and pesantren (Islamic boarding school) environments, expanding into a more inclusive digital space. Overall, social transformation and digital cultural interactions have had a complex impact on the development of tafsir in Indonesia. While technology has facilitated access and accelerated the dissemination of knowledge, challenges related to source credibility, ethical discourse, and information selectivity must remain a primary concern. Ensuring that tafsir studies remain engaging, scholarly, and beneficial to the broader society requires a critical and responsible approach to navigating the digital landscape.
