Abstract

It is particularly difficult for Generation Z to preserve spiritual balance in the fast-paced, distracting digital age. Social media, virtual reality, and the illusions of online life can cause "digital hallucination," a phenomena that has contributed to an increasing spiritual confusion. The purpose of this paper is to examine how Sufism might support Generation Z in maintaining spiritual balance in the face of relentless digitalization. As the esoteric branch of Islam, Sufism provides a deep method for achieving inner peace, self-awareness, and transcendental comprehension—all of which are critical for surviving in the digital age. Through an understanding of fundamental ideas like zuhud (asceticism) and fana' (annihilation of the ego), this study shows how Sufi teachings might help Generation Z overcome the identity uncertainty and existential alienation brought on by digital culture. This study connects the psychological and social reality of Generation Z with profound observations from classical Sufi scriptures using a descriptive-analytical qualitative method. To sum up, Sufism is not only pertinent but also provides long-lasting spiritual remedies to deal with emotional and spiritual strains in the contemporary world, especially for a generation that is most susceptible to the detrimental effects of digitalization.
