Prophetic Messages of Peace and Human Brotherhood

Abstract

The message of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ embodies a universal moral vision that transcends time, geography, and culture. Rooted in the Qur’anic conception of mercy (raḥmah), justice (ʿadl), and human dignity (karāmah insāniyyah), his teachings established a spiritual and social order grounded in compassion and equality. In an era of global fragmentation, the Prophetic paradigm invites humanity to rediscover peace as the natural expression of divine harmony and moral balance. This study explores the relevance of the Prophetic model in addressing the crises of modern civilization—wars of ideology, social alienation, and the erosion of ethical values. By examining the Prophet’s vision of brotherhood (ukhuwwah insāniyyah), the research underscores that his message was not confined to a historical context but offers a timeless framework for coexistence and justice. The need to re-engage with this moral foundation is urgent, as contemporary peace discourses often lack spiritual depth and ethical universality. Methodologically, the research adopts a textual-analytical and comparative approach, situating the Prophetic discourse within both classical Islamic and modern philosophical frameworks. It analyzes primary sources such as the Prophet’s sermons, treaties, and community-building principles in light of contemporary ethical theories. To ensure depth and authenticity, the study draws upon the classical work Al-Sīrah al-Nabawiyyah by Ibn Hishām and the modern analytical exposition of Dr. ʿAlī Muḥammad al-Ṣallābī’s Al-Sīrah al-Nabawiyyah. Together, these sources serve as the intellectual foundation for reconstructing a Prophetic philosophy of peace — one capable of healing the fractured moral consciousness of the modern world.
