Abstract

This article discusses the prohibition of the implementation of the kasai bathing custom in the marriage rituals of the Lubuklinggau people during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 2020 Indonesia has been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, the government through the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) issued Circular Number: P-004 / DJ. III/Hk.00.7/04/2020 concerning Control of the Implementation of Marriage in the Emergency Period of Disease Outbreaks Due to Covid-19. Then what about the traditional ritual of Kasai bathing which must be abolished during the COVID-19 pandemic. So this paper analyzes the prohibition of the traditional ritual of Kasai bathing at the marriage ceremony of the Lubuklinggau community during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of this study, marriage is still carried out only with a marriage contract without any customary rituals. The purpose of this ban, which is to postpone traditional marriages during the COVID-19 pandemic, is a noble act because it saves many lives. Everything that gives rise to more mudharat should be shunned.
