Curriculum Management and Superior Programs at MA N 1 Pekanbaru

Abstract
This study aims to describe and analyze curriculum management and the implementation of flagship programs at MA Negeri 1 Pekanbaru, covering the processes of planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as the challenges encountered during their execution. A descriptive qualitative method was used, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that MA Negeri 1 Pekanbaru applies a systematic and participatory curriculum management approach involving the principal, teachers, curriculum development team, and the school committee. The curriculum is based on the national framework, enriched with local innovations through flagship programs such as Tahfiz Al-Qur’an, Robotics, and Multimedia. The curriculum is flexibly integrated into both intracurricular and co-curricular learning activities. Monitoring and evaluation are carried out regularly as a form of results-based management to ensure the effectiveness and relevance of learning. However, the study also identified several challenges, including limited infrastructure, insufficient teacher competence in implementing innovative curricula, resistance to change, and suboptimal synergy with external stakeholders. Therefore, sustainable strategies are needed, such as improving facilities, conducting teacher training, refining curriculum tools, and strengthening partnerships with the community. The implications of this study highlight that adaptive and collaborative curriculum management is essential to establishing a high-performing madrasah that is responsive to the challenges of 21st-century education.
