Management of Panca Waluya Character Education in Fostering Wise Attitudes Toward Technology in the Digital Era

Abstract
The development of digital technology in the 21st century presents serious challenges for basic education, particularly in shaping students’ character and digital behavior, as while technology offers easy access to information and supports learning innovation, it also has the potential to lead to gadget misuse, low levels of digital ethics, and weak self-control among students; therefore, this study aims to analyze the management of Panca Waluya character education in fostering wise and responsible use of technology in the digital era at SDN 1 Cilandak, Purwakarta Regency, using a qualitative approach with an analytical study method, in which data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students, and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing to ensure the validity of the findings, with the results showing that Panca Waluya character education management is implemented through four management functions planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision while the Panca Waluya values of cageur, bageur, bener, pinter, and singer are systematically integrated into intracurricular, extracurricular, cocurricular activities, as well as school culture, contributing positively to the development of students’ wise use of technology, including proportional gadget use, digital communication ethics, and the ability to filter information, and leading to the conclusion that sustainably managed Panca Waluya–based character education is an effective strategy for developing students’ digital character that is ethical, responsible, and rooted in local wisdom.
