Strategic Management in Maintaining the Excellence of Madrasah in MTsN 1 Bandar Lampung

Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategic management in maintaining the excellence of madrasas in MTsN 1 Bandar Lampung which includes strategy formulation, strategy implementation, strategy evaluation, as well as supporting and inhibiting factors that affect the sustainability of institutional excellence. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. The research informants consist of madrasah heads, deputy madrasah heads, teachers, superior program coaches, and students who are selected purposively according to research needs. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The validity of the data is carried out through source triangulation, technical triangulation, and member checking to ensure the credibility of research findings. The results of the study show that the formulation of strategies is carried out through the preparation of vision and mission, analysis of the internal and external environment, and SWOT analysis which is the basis for the preparation of the madrasah strategic plan. The implementation of the strategy is realized through superior class programs, tahfidz Al-Qur'an, afternoon tutorials, Olympic coaching, and strengthening extracurricular activities supported by human resources, infrastructure, and a strong religious culture. Strategy evaluation is carried out through annual monitoring, semester supervision, evaluation meetings, and strategic plan reviews that result in various continuous improvements. Supporting factors include visionary leadership of madrasah heads, teacher competence, adequate facilities, religious culture, and community belief, while inhibiting factors are student learning fatigue and low motivation of some students. The novelty of this research lies in the development of a strategic management model based on a continuous cycle that integrates the formulation, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement in maintaining the excellence of madrasas. The research findings contribute to strengthening the study of Islamic education management, especially in the management of educational institutions oriented towards competitive advantage and quality sustainability.
