Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of zakat in improving human development index and its impact on economic growth. The population in this study are all regencies/cities in South Sumatra Province as many as 17 regencies/cities. The sample is based on criteria, namely the Regency / City that has data related to zakat distribution, human development index and economic growth so that 15 Regency / City are obtained. The analysis technique uses regression with STATA 17 application and Sobel Test. The results showed that zakat directly affects the human development index and economic growth. Then zakat indirectly affects economic growth through the human development index. The conclusion that can be drawn is that both directly and indirectly zakat distribution affects economic growth.
