BETANGAS PADA ADAT PERKAWINAN MASYARAKAT MELAYU-PALEMBANG DI KECAMATAN SELANGI, KABUPATEN MUSI RAWAS

Abstract

Betangas is one of the Malay culture that has existed since ancient times. is a custom, namely cleaning the body of the bride-to-be by taking a steam bath from the stew of spiced water. This study uses a descriptive method, with data collection techniques using interviews, observation, documentation and analyzing data with qualitative techniques. From the results of the study it was found that this betangas aims to cleanse the human body in order to prepare for the wedding reception. The purpose of this study was to determine the process of implementing the Betangas traditional tradition in the marriage customs of the Palembang people in Selangit District, Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra Province. Before carrying out the traditional betangas activity, the family first prepares the equipment and supplies that will be used in the betangas process. Then after the preparation of the equipment which was immediately accompanied by the implementation of the betangas was completed, the next activity was closing. In this closing, this community usually eats together, prays and forgives each other.
