Abstract

This article aims to examine the influence of Greek philosophy on the development of Islamic thought, especially through the works and thoughts of figures such as Al-Kindi, Al-Farabi, Ibn Sina, and Ibn Rushd. The method used is a qualitative literature study by examining Greek and Islamic philosophical texts and their interactions. The results show that Greek philosophy, especially the thoughts of Plato and Aristotle, became an important foundation in the development of logic, metaphysics, and ethics in the Islamic tradition. Muslim philosophers did not merely translate Greek ideas, but also criticized, adapted, and developed them in accordance with the principles of Islamic theology. This integration resulted in a unique and rich tradition of Islamic philosophy, which in turn contributed greatly to the advancement of Islamic science and culture during the Golden Age. Moreover, the influence of Greek philosophy in Islamic thought opened a dialogue between rationality and revelation, which became an important foundation in the development of contemporary Islamic education and science. This study confirms that Islamic philosophy is the result of creative acculturation between Greek rationality and Islamic revelation, which then influenced Western civilization through the Andalusian route.
