The Concept of the Learning Environment in Hadith:Perspectives for Contemporary Islamic Education

Abstract
This article aims to explore the concept of the learning environment as reflected in the Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and its implications for the development of contemporary Islamic education systems. Utilizing a qualitative approach through thematic analysis of relevant hadiths, this study identifies five core elements of the Islamic learning environment: positive social surroundings, the spirituality of knowledge circles (majelis ‘ilm), proper learning etiquette (adab), cleanliness as a foundational value, and the central role of the teacher. These hadiths are analyzed normatively and contextually to address modern educational challenges such as digital transformation, moral decline, and spiritual crises. The findings demonstrate that the pedagogical values embedded in the Hadith remain highly relevant and offer a solid foundation for building an integrative, spiritual, and adaptive Islamic education ecosystem. This article underscores the importance of integrating classical Islamic pedagogical principles with value-based and technologically responsive modern educational approaches.
