MALAM BEDANA : RANGKAIAN PERNIKAHAN MASYARAKAT SUNGSANG

The Bedana Night Tradition is a hereditary tradition that must be preserved. because the purpose of holding it is to help people who are holding a wedding celebration. This study discusses the Existence of the Bedana Night Tradition of the Sungsang I Community Wedding Customs, Banyuasin II District. Banyuasin Regency. The framework of the main problem that is the focus of this study, namely: (1) What is the meaning and essence of the Bedana Night tradition in the Sungsang community wedding 17 (2) What are the factors that cause the Bedana Night tradition to continue to be carried out by the Sungsang I community until now? The objectives of this study are: (1) To find out the meaning and essence of Bedana Night in marriage. Sungsang I community, Banyuasin II District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province. (2) To find out the factors that cause the Sungsang I community to continue to carry out the Bedana Night tradition. The study used in this study is an anthropological study using an ethnographic approach that focuses on the phenomenon of the Existence of the Bedana Night Tradition of the Sungsang I Community Wedding Customs. Banyuasin II District, Banyuasin Regency.
This research is a qualitative research. The research methods used include primary data sources obtained through interviews, historical documents, recordings or images, to the village head, village officials, traditional figures and villagers. As well as secondary data sources obtained to complete the data in the form of books, articles, scientific journals, research reports and theses related to the discussion of the research.
From the results of field research, it can be seen that the Malam Bedana tradition is a hereditary tradition that is still maintained to this day. In this tradition, firecrackers are used as a sign that the bride and groom have begun the wedding procession, with a certain distance between one village and another. On Malam Bedana, the bride and groom with their parents sit on the dais accompanied by the Prophet's prayers. Uniquely, every community member who attends throws an envelope in front of the bride and groom, which is known as the night of collecting funds
