Internalization of Character Education and Sufistic Values through the Recitation of Asnawiyyah Prayers among Female Students in Kudus

Abstract
This study aims to describe the process of internalizing character education and Sufi values through the recitation of Shalawat Asnawiyyah at MA Qudsiyyah Putri Kudus and to analyze its contribution to the development of students’ spirituality, morality, and sense of nationalism. This research employs a qualitative approach with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the recitation of Shalawat Asnawiyyah serves as an effective medium for internalizing values through three stages: cognitive understanding of Sufi meanings and nationalist messages, affective engagement through rhythmic chanting and collective spiritual practice, and behavioral reinforcement through habituation that shapes religious character and emotional stability. Additionally, this practice strengthens students’ cultural identity and nationalism through local-language lyrics and national symbols that foster solidarity and love for the homeland. The study concludes that Shalawat Asnawiyyah is not merely a ritual practice but an integrative psycho-spiritual educational model that effectively shapes students’ holistic development, encompassing moral, spiritual, emotional, and national dimensions.
