Focus and Scope

Jurnal biota is an open access, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal dedicated to the publication of novel research in all aspects of biology, with particular attention paid to the exploration and biodiversity Wetland tropical—and especially Indonesian—biodiversity. Original research articles written in English and featuring well-designed studies with clearly analyzed and logically interpreted results are accepted, with a strong preference given to research that has the potential to make significant contributions to both the field of biology and society in general.

Jurnal Biota publishes articles within the following subject areas:

1. Agricultural and Biological Sciences

  • Tropical wetland biodiversity and species ecology
  • Sustainable agricultural systems and plant–environment interactions
  • Conservation biology, population biology, and organismal adaptation
  • Plant and animal physiology
  • Vegetation structure, carbon stock assessment, and ecosystem dynamics

2. Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Pharmaceutics

  • Bioactive compounds derived from wetland organisms
  • Natural products, secondary metabolites, and therapeutic potential
  • Environmental and ecological toxicology
  • Microbial and plant-based resources for pharmaceutical applications

3. Structural Biology

  • Structural and functional analysis of biomolecules
  • Cell architecture and microstructural characterization of tropical organisms
  • Molecular mechanisms underlying adaptation and ecological function
  • Biomolecular insights relevant to biotechnology and health sciences

4. Medical Laboratory Technology

  • Molecular diagnostics, microbial detection, and laboratory-based analytical methods
  • Characterization of environmental and clinical microorganisms
  • Development of laboratory technologies for tropical health challenges

5. Plant Science

  • Plant physiology, reproductive biology, and adaptive strategies in tropical environments
  • Wetland and riparian plant communities
  • Plant-based ecological services and bioresource utilization
